Vertical Integration

Students benefit when their parents take a consistent interest and an active role in their education.  We therefore encourage and enjoy steady parental engagement in many aspects of school life.  There are many different ways for you to get involved.

1)                                     Each new parent is automatically enrolled in our Parent Association.   The Association meets regularly, and everyone is encouraged to attend whenever possible.   This is a great way to be an active participant in your child’s education and to connect with the other ECDS families.

2)                                 ECDS parents are instrumental in our many annual school events.  They help to organize everything from our initial Welcome Back Picnic to our Halloween bash (“the Monster Mash”), our Winterfest, our Art Show, our major drama production in May, and all the way through to our closing ceremonies and Graduation night.

3)                                 Each classroom has a Room Parent who helps to arrange field trips and parties.  These and other parents regularly drive children to their field trips, and help supervise the outings.

4)                                 All of our fundraisers are entirely organized and produced by parent volunteers.  Regular fundraising drives include the Wrapping Paper Sale in September and the major Annual Spring Auction.

The Spring Auction is a most important event at ECDS, and everyone helps make it a success.  From the Auction Chair-person to those who help move the chairs, we all participate, have fun, and work hard to make the event a resounding success.
